Project Team Presents To Local Elementary School

In giving back to the community in which we do business, Clark's project team took upon a unique opportunity to teach local students the benefits of sustainability and environmental consciousness. The project team networked and partnered with Gordon Contractors, Inc of Capitol Heights, MD to present a hands-on educational experience for students at the local Ward 8 Savoy Elementary School. The presentation provided students the opportunity to ask questions on a variety of environmental issues and utilized samples of environmentally friendly building materials to provide an engaging experience.
The project was a great success, with each classroom's teacher requesting the team return next year to present. The students were engaged and interested in the presentations, asking questions such as, "can you really reuse a building that is old and beat-up?" and "how do they make [green roof insulation] so strong but so light?" Students also gained knowledge in the importance of energy conservation. Each student learned the value of turning off the lights as they leave a room. Water conservation was explained and well understood by the young students. As a gift, each student was happy to receive a Clark sustainable bag with a fabric coloring kit.
